Regional Hiking and Winter Activity:
N.W.CT is the gateway to the Berkshires, and portals to the 2200 mile Appalachian Trail. In nearby Litchfield, White Memorial Park boasts 40 miles of trails and kayaking on the Bantam River. Closer to Torrington, surrounding smaller parks, offer equal beauty around idyllic ponds and lakes. When the snow flies many embrace cross country runs or faster speed down the slopes at three nearby resorts.
Nearby Smaller Towns
Whether it’s dramatic Kent Falls; summer English garden tours; river fishing; covered bridges; galleries; quaint shopping, or the finest leaf peeping: it’s never more than a windy, country road away. No wonder why so many Litchfield County visitors decide to drop roots here.
