December 7 - 24th Weekdays: 1:00-8:30 pm | Weekends: 12:00 - 8:30 pm | Christmas Eve: 9:00 am until noon In 1948, Carl Bozenski—Torrington’s Parks and Recreation Director—extended a special invitation to Santa Claus, asking him to spend the weeks leading up to Christmas at the city’s Alvord Park Playground. Santa happily accepted, bringing along a few trusted elves and his loyal reindeer. Since that first magical visit, Santa has returned every year, transforming Torrington into his beloved home away from home. A trip to Christmas Village truly feels like stepping straight into the North Pole. Each tour begins in Santa’s throne room, where believers are born and holiday magic is undeniable. Words can hardly capture the comfort and joy that fill this warm space—sparkling trees, classic toys, soft Christmas music, and a crackling fire set the scene. Every child is invited to share their wish list with Santa and receives a small toy to tide them over until his big visit on Christmas Eve. From Santa’s cozy cottage, guests are encouraged to wander through the Village, entering a world created to rekindle the holiday spirit. A stop at Mrs. Claus’s cottage is a must. Inside, she can be found diligently reading letters from children near and far. Her cottage, with its vintage furnishings and Christmas tree glowing beside the fireplace, never fails to enchant. No visit is complete without a stop at the heart of the Village: the elves’ workshop—where children’s dreams come alive. Every inch of this charming workshop brims with Christmas magic, filled with toys, trains, tinsel, and imagination. But the tour doesn’t end there! Guests of all ages can stroll through the Village grounds, where Santa’s sleigh and reindeer await and holiday inspiration fills the air. And, of course, no trip to Torrington’s “other North Pole” would be complete without a steaming cup of hot cocoa from the cocoa hut to warm you as you return to reality.
